So, I just dropped a wad of cash on a new camera and felt the need to blog about it.  I've always said my blog is my therapist.

Well….that and MonMac.  Thanks for getting me through my buyer's anxiety, sister!

The goods arrive tomorrow morning and I can't wait to play!  Come on Brown.  What can you do for me?  You can hurry up and get here. :o)

Happy Monday!

Just wondering – what cmera did you settle on? Also, wondering what lenses you use. I am considering the 24-70 2.8 from Canon.

Barbara, I went with the D300 for now and I’ll likely add the D3 to my arsenal in the fall. (Hee! Hee!) I have the 50mm 1.4 and just ordered the 85mm 1.8, but I’ve heard great things about the 24-70 2.8.

Good job Heather! D300 is a great camera…when you add the D3 you’ll be the shizzle! If I didn’t have so much invested in Canon gear I’d switch to Nikon. I was so close to pulling the trigger 10 days ago on a new body, but decided to wait it out just a little longer (if that’s possible!!!)
Barbara the 24-70 2.8L is an awesome lens! I use it 75% of the time. Super sharp, super fast, solid, great hood…excellent all around! Go get you one! :-)

Has it arrived? Dying over here….

Heather, I have the Canon 50mm 1.4 & the 85 mm 1.8. Love , Love Love the 85 mm for portraiture – I bought it to shoot basketball for my son and it has been A-mazing. The price is super. Nervous to spend over $1000 on my next lens – I have put it in my cart at B&H several times but just never completed checkout!

Heather…. can I ask whcih camera you had before buying the D300?
Great work by the way… very inspiring.

Heather, incase you didn’t hear…yesterday they announced the D3 sensor has been put into a smaller body, for under $3000…in the D700.

Barbara – I hear you! Monica had to talk me through the checkout with the D300. I honestly haven’t had too much time to shoot and edit those files yet, but I’m really looking forward to playing around with it a bit more. I rented a 17-55mm 2.8 and really liked it a lot.
Angela – I had the D70 (which I’ve always loved) and the D200 (which I’ve always hated), but I think my D200 was a lemon. It’s about to go back to Nikon for service for the second time since I bought it just a little over a year ago. All of my images have a horrible haze to them.
Tyson – Thanks, buddy. Did you want to go ahead and pour some salt on my open wound while you’re at it? TOTALLY KIDDING! TOTALLY! KIDDING! That’s just my luck. A week after I buy a camera a new one comes out. You go ahead and buy that D700 and let me know what you think about it, alright? :o )
