a growing family – kansas city family photographer

i don’t shoot weddings but i shot brian and erin’s. i don’t typically shoot large family groups, but i shot theirs. you see, i shoot brian, erin and reese every fall and when erin’s mom called to ask if the rest of the family could join them i couldn’t help but say yes. over the last five years i’ve watched their family grow. i’ve gotten to know the whole family and i adore them. their closeness and the love they all share is really something i admire. and, their family isn’t done growing yet. reese is going to be a big sister this spring!

thanks for another great session, guys! can’t wait to see you again this spring when baby perrie arrives!

style friday: the hunt is on

inspired by this rainy day we’ve decided to theme today’s style friday around the perfect rainy day footwear, the hunter boot. if you don’t have a pair of these wellies, grab yourself a pair. zappos has a great variety. they tend to run a bit small, so you might want to order a half size up to ensure you can layer up some some thick socks. it’s all about how you layer.

check out some of these stylish layered options and stay dry out there!

stylishly yours,

jordan and heather

clients, friends and family | kansas city family photographer

you’ve seen these little ones and their parents on the blog. a lot. in november 2005 their mama found me via google. emma’s first photo shoot took place when she was 3 months old and i’ve lost count on the number of portrait sessions we’ve done since. although marc and kristi started out as clients we quickly became friends and realized just how much we have in common. over the last 8 years we’ve spent a lot of time together. i’ve watched their daughter grow up, i was in the room when their son was born and i have the incredible honor of being his godmother.

these were a couple of my favorite images from gavin’s newborn session and the one on the right is still one of my favorite newborn sibling shots ever.

over the years chris and marc have grown just as close as kristi and i and our kids simply adore each other. marc and kristi are more than just our friends – they’re like family. i call kristi my sister from another mister and having the four of them in front of my camera feels like anything but work. here are just a few of my favorite images from their latest family portrait session.

emma’s curls and freckles just slay me. she’s a total girly girl and so full of spunk!

and really? the dimples on this boy…mr. gavin is destined to be a heartbreaker. he’s already got his godmother wrapped around his finger.

i love you, hess family. and i can’t imagine life without the four of you in it!

lauren | fashion inspired kansas city senior portraits

i shot some really incredible senior portrait sessions this fall and this one is definite favorite. lauren is the perfect example of what to wear for senior portraits. she works at addie rose boutique so i knew she would have an amazing wardrobe but it’s her personal style that i really love. she’s the perfect mix of edgy and feminine and fun.

i fell in love with this first outfit – the dress and necklace are both from addie rose.

another addie rose necklace.

if you’ve ever shot with me you know that i tend to get a little excited when i’m shooting. the top left shot in this next series was one that made me squeal. i knew the second i clicked the shutter that it would be the one. really, this whole series is on my list of favorites. and that bottom right close up…seriously, lauren! it was this series that made me realize what a natural lauren is in front of the camera. so much so that i recently referred her to one of the modeling agencies i work with. my fingers are crossed that she gets signed!

another great addie rose outfit in this series.

lauren and i had talked about how much we both love that golden sunset light and the way it beats through the trees so you know we were both thrilled that we timed these next two sets right.

hello, glorious light of the golden hour!

hair and makeup by kansas city makeup artist/stylist gina ciaccio-holmberg

be sure to check out the addie rose facebook page and stop by next time you’re out shopping. i promise you’ll find something (or at least a few things) you love!

addie rose boutique, 4870 west 135th street in leawood.

until next time,
